Who is Jean-Michel Jarre?
Pioneer of electronic music.
Jean-Michel Jarre is a French composer, performer and music producer, world famous for his pioneering work in electronic music. Born on August 24, 1948 in Lyon, he captivated audiences around the globe in the seventies and eighties with sounds no one had heard before.
His music blends electronic rhythms, ambient textures and classical influences into a sound entirely his own. Albums like Oxygene and Equinoxe are still regarded as milestones in music history.
Jarre is equally known for his spectacular live performances: large-scale outdoor concerts with breathtaking light shows. His 1979 concert at the Place de la Concorde in Paris drew a record crowd of more than one million people.
